State-of-the-art

MP Objects creates state-of-the art solutions and therefore we need state-of-the-art technologies. We have adopted several business standards and follow new ICT developments closely.

Continuous investment

Research and Development is a very important pillar to the success of our company.
There is continuous investment in new software engines. The latest technologies are deployed to provide our customers with state of the art software for Supply Chain Management.
At this moment, our R&D is prototyping Agent Technology for optimization in dynamic Supply Chains.

Technology: Wicket for web user interfaces

Wicket is a Java open source framework for component based web user interfaces. By dividing web pages into user interface components, Wicket can easily handle the multiple states of the objects in a web interface. A developer does not have to store objects in an HTTP session in an ad hoc fashion. The Wicket programming model is more similar to Java desktop GUI toolkits (e.g. Swing) than to traditional Java web frameworks (e.g. Struts). Re-usable custom components are easy to create by applying normal object oriented inheritance and composition to existing Wicket components. Wicket supplies a lot of components out of the box: form entry components, searchable data tables, AJAX components, tabs and so on. Web user interfaces are developed using only plain Java and plain HTML (no JSP). Besides a Java and HTML editor, no other tools or programming languages are needed to use Wicket.

Supply Chain Technology: JasperReports fulfills endless reporting demand

JasperReports is a flexible and intelligent reporting tool. As compared to static reporting with standard reports, JasperReports gives the user the possibility to do more dynamic reporting, like for example OLAP analysis. dashboard.gif

The reporting tool is fully built in Java and runs in a web browser. Reports are designed in iReports and published via JasperServer. Users can enjoy standard reports, have the possibility to open analytical reports and can create their own ad hoc reports.

The Reporting Module of the MPO Supply Chain Suite is based on JasperReports. In this way, the software is ready to fulfil your endless report demands!

RFID Technology: from Hype to Reality
Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology enables automatic identification of goods in the supply chain. rfidRFID tags attached to the goods hold information, which can be read by RFID receivers using radio signals. Active RFID tags send signals themselves, while passive tags only respond when activated by requesting RFID receivers.

Agents
What is an agent? There are many definitions, but one that can make things clear is the following: "An agent is a software entity that has objectives and knowledge about its environment can autonomously determine what actions or processes are appropriate for achieving its objectives."

Service Oriented Architecture in theory and practice

Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) stands for systems that request and provide services to and from each other. A service can be rather functional (transport a shipment), or more technical (print a document). Service interactions in a SOA are managed by middleware and can have different levels of dynamics:

  • - fixed service process (interfaces)
  • - variable service process (BPEL)
  • - search service process (UDDI).
