Senior Java Software Engineer

Responsibilities

The senior Java software engineer is responsible for functional extensions and technical improvements of the MPO Supply Chain Suite and has capabilities to deal with all aspects of a software development process. Senior software engineers can grow to System Architect or Solution Consultant as a next career step.

  • Software design of logistics applications and object technology with UML.
  • Programming of components in Java, XML and Internet technology
  • Mastering frameworks like Struts, Spring and Hibernate.
  • Quality assurance, code reviewing and unit testing.
  • Implementing the software in a user organization.
  • Technical 3rd line support for critical issues.

Our software components are based on the latest Java and Internet technology and are used in web based solutions and run on JBoss. We make extensive of open source technologies like Spring, Hibernate, Wicket and Struts. Also XSDs and XSLTs play an important role. Next to that we explore new technologies in R&D projects. The software is developed in a professional software factory, where we use modern methods and technologies like SCRUM and continuous integration with Jenkins to facilitate the build process and to guarantee the quality of the products.

Requirements

  • MSc/PhD University degree with Masters in Technology or equivalent expertise level.
  • At least 5 years experience in development of complex Java web applications.
  • Experience with open source frameworks, like Struts, Spring and Hibernate.
  • Knowledge of JBoss application server, XML, XSD, XSLT, SQL, web services.
  • Strong communication skills as well as a positive customer friendly attitude.
  • Ability to plan own activities and to deliver on time and above expectation.
  • Genuine passion for software development.

Solution Consultant

Responsibilities

The Solution Consultant – Project Manager is a managing professional dealing with many challenging responsibilities in all stages of the SCM software cycle. There are plenty of opportunities to grow in the many dimensions of this exciting job.
Pre-sales Consultancy

  • Make customer proposals, give presentations and do demonstrations
  • Business process design and system requirements analysis

Project Management

  • Project management for seamless solution implementations at customers
  • Define, plan and control all deliverables the customer implementations
  • Lead internal/external project team and report to senior management

Software Implementation

  • Create process/system design, specify modifications and configure the software
  • Organize integration testing, acceptance testing and user training
  • System go-live, after care support and handover to operations

Product Development

  • Define opportunities to extend the MPO Supply Chain Suite with new functions
  • Manage the requirements, development and introduction of new product modules

Requirements

- University Degree or Higher Professional Education
- 0-5 (junior) or 5-10 (senior) years of experience in SCM software
- Project Management skills
